When looking for Santa Fe Homes or Condos, the first thing most buyers desire is to be walking distance to the Santa Fe Plaza. This is a good thing from the point of view of convenience to fine dining, nightlife, and community events. On the other hand - lots are extremely small; parking is minuscule; and remodeling has become very restrictive in historical downtown areas protected by the Santa Fe Historical Review Board. The other thing about downtown properties - most do not have views, it feels like an old neighborhood.
If you are moving from suburbia, most likely you are ready for 2+ acres, newer construction. Depending on your price point, this will place you in the NW or SE city limits areas, 10-20 minute drive into Santa Fe. Here most areas do not have fencing, but exist in subdivisions protecting open space and view corridors. About half these areas on City or County water systems, the others on shared well systems. All these properties operated on septic systems. Out here, views are special, day and night, great sunsets and immense views of the milky way.
If you want an old adobe, you will find yourself nearer the Santa Fe Plaza.
If you desire a contemporary SW style home - light, brighter, open living design, indoor/outdoor feel, mountain views from inside and on the portal; then you will find your self in Santa Fe County, close to City of Santa Fe.

"We have just completed the purchase of a new house on Lorenzo Road and the sale of our condo in Park Plazas. Peter Kahn handled both transactions. I just want to report to you the high level of professionalism and courtesy he brought to his representation. Peter really knows his business. But, as important, he was right on top of every development, immediately available at all times, knew when things needed a nudge, advised us in a way that indicated he had our best interest at heart, enabled us to prepare our property so that it was ready for sale (it sold within 24 hours of being listed on multiple listings for 5k over the appraised value).
We now consider Peter a friend. We have recommended him to several friends."
